Kirbycolors This article is about the enemy in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. For other uses, see Skull (disambiguation).
This guy is kind of a big deal. He's the solid-gold leader of the Dethskullk gang. Next time you get trapped in a pirate ship, you're probably gonna need to get the key from this guy.
Good luck with that.
— Figurine description • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Dethskullk King is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. He is the leader of the Dethskullks.

GamesEdit

Kirby and the Rainbow CurseEdit

Dethskullk King appears exclusively in the stage The Haunted Ship. Kirby must unlock two locked gates before he can escape the Dethskullk pirate ship. Upon opening the first gate, Dethskullk King appears and seizes the key to the second gate. He mostly stays in one area, but if Kirby approaches him and turns away, the enemy slowly chases him. Dethskullk King can pass through walls in his pursuit but loses track of Kirby if the hero enters water.

Dethskullk King, like other Dethskullks, is lethal. Kirby is KO'd if he touches him. Only a Star Dash or the effects of Invincible Candy can defeat the opponent. Dethskullk King freezes in place when Kirby becomes invincible.

EtymologyEdit

Dethskullk's name is derived from the words death, referencing its ability to KO Kirby upon contact, skull, referencing its appearance, and skulk, referencing its behavior.

TriviaEdit

  • Dethskullk King's behavior is similar to that of Mumbies and some Scarfys and Degouts, as the three enemies don't attack if the player is looking at them.
