Kirby Wiki

Concrete Isles is the eighth stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the second stage of Everbay Coast. It succeeds Abandoned Beach and precedes Scale the Cement Summit.

General Information[]

This stage acts as an introduction to the Drill ability and focuses on platforms suspended over water. Upon landing from the Warp Star, Kirby has a view over the entire first section. A Squishy and Balloon-Meister can be seen, as well as several whirlpools. After traversing through the water, Kirby will come across one of the stage's main gimmicks: Moving concrete platforms and Collect pieces. The first set of pieces are located:

  • On the center of a platform.
  • On a moving concrete slab.
  • On an elevated portion of a platform; when collected, it spawns several enemies.
  • In the middle of 2 moving platforms, above a whirlpool.
  • Behind a Balloon-Meister on an elevated part of the platform before the crane.

Collecting all of these causes a crane to lift a treasure chest containing a Waddle Dee out of the sea. After collecting all of these, the player can proceed onward, encountering a few Gordos and 2 Digguhs on a circular platform with a submerged center. Once defeated, the center of the platform rises to the surface and a Drill Copy Essence appears. One of the dirt piles yields a Gotcha Capsule when drilled into. After this platform, another to the left contains even more underground items. The nearby water section has 2 Gordo Bars guarding another Capsule. Right after, another island contains a new set of orange Collect pieces. Their locations are:

  • At the center of the first part of the island.
  • Underground, in the center of a similar-looking part.
  • Underground, on an elevated platform past a Gordo Bar.
  • Underground, on the elevated part of a path being shot at by a Gigatzo.
  • Underground, on a high-up area requiring the Scissor-Lift Mouth to get to.

Collecting all of these causes another crane with a Waddle Dee to rise. Once the player has collected all of these, they can take a Warp Star to the final section of the stage.

This section focuses on a final set of Collect pieces, platforms shifting in and out of a wall, and Gigatzos to challenge the player's use of Drill. Additionally, a glowing, star-shaped pile of dirt can be found after the third Collect piece. Drilling into it reveals an orange Warp Star which takes Kirby to a higher-up area. Here, he is required to use the Pipe Mouth to roll through a cracked wall. The final set of Collect pieces are found:

  • Underground, in the part that enters the wall of the first shifting platform.
  • Atop a stack of crates behind a Balloon-Meister.
  • Underground, in another part of the platform that shifts into the wall.
  • In the path of the Pipe Mouth section.
  • In the building Pipe Mouth Kirby breaks into.

Collecting all of the pieces opens a gate allowing Kirby to rescue another Waddle Dee. The final part of this section requires Kirby to move through a twisting area constantly shot at by Gigatzos. If he can make it through, the goal is right ahead.

Missions[]

Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.

  • Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
  • Save the hidden Waddle Dees: 4 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
    • On a crane after collecting the first set of Collect pieces.
    • On another crane after collecting the second set of Collect pieces.
    • On the isle of treasure, hidden in a treasure chest.
    • Behind a gate requiring the final set of Collect pieces to be found to open.
  • Greet 3 sea birds: By moving near a seagull, it will fly away and count toward the mission progress. Their locations are:
    • At the beginning of the level, to the right of the small square platform.
    • Past the 2 Gordo Bars, next to a Glunk.
    • Next to the platform with stairs and a Warp Star.
  • Make landfall on the isle of treasure: To the right of the platform containing a Warp Star, a post of power lines has fallen into the sea. If the player goes over the fallen post, they can head forward to find an island with plenty of treasure and a sleeping Awoofy.
  • Dig up a Maxim Tomato: On the twisting path shot at by Gigatzos, a dirt pile can be drilled into to recieve a Maxim Tomato.

Trivia[]

KatFL Concrete Isles secret

Kirby looks around the secret room.

  • To the left of the squiggly platform found shortly after obtaining Drill, there is a whirlpool over a sunken building. Going into the whirlpool reveals a secret area where the player must use the Cone Mouth to jump across crates without breaking them, or they will be unable to get to the other side and cave open a crack in the ground. If the player can make it to the other side, they will be rewarded with food items, a Gotcha Capsule, and a large Star Coin pile.
