“ | This scrappy little fish has just one goal in life: to swim straight up a waterfall. He's had that dream for a while, though. Maybe he's worried about what comes after he's reached the top of that metaphorical waterfall.” |
— Figurine description • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse |
Carpa is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
Physical Appearance[]
Carpa is a round fish. He has a white underbelly, fins, and a circular mouth. The fish's top side is red with a tiny dorsal fin and a curvy white line dividing his front and back. His posterior boasts a small red tail fin. Carpa wears a lazy expression at all times due to his partially-closed eyelids.
Games[]
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[]
Carpa appears exclusively in the stage Great Cave Escape. He is often found swimming up a waterfall, sometimes carrying an item. If the player draws a rainbow rope in a part of the waterfall above the fish, he falls to the ground, still holding the item. When on land, Carpa haphazardly hops across the ground in one direction; he turns around if he hits a wall or approaches an edge. If the fish hops into a waterfall, he swims up it.
Kirby can easily defeat Carpa with a Tap Dash or Star Dash.
Etymology[]
Carpa's name is derived from the word carp, a species of freshwater fish.
