The episode starts in the middle of the night. Everyone is sleeping. Suddenly, a Destroya appears and starts shooting everywhere (one of its targets is Kirby's house). Tiff quickly calls the Warp Star and Kirby becomes Crash Kirby and destroys it, but not before the entire Cappy Town is in flames!

UnhappyCappies

Kirby is blamed by the Cappies

Kirby, Tuff, Tiff, Meta Knight, Sword Knight, and Blade Knight watch the chaos unfold from the castle. Meta Knight reveals that their counterattack is ready, and sends Kirby, Tiff and Tuff to bring the Cappies to the castle. When they arrive, however, they find the entire village decimated. Even the big tree in the middle has been burnt to a crisp. The Cappies are angry and quickly blame Kirby, clashing with Tiff and Tuff, who know that Dedede's really to blame. Though everyone is on edge, Tiff manages to calm everyone down and convince them all to meet Meta Knight at the castle. Meanwhile, Dedede is complaining to Customer Service that Kirby remains undefeated. Customer Service assures them that they're working on another big project, and to keep a watchful eye on Meta Knight. He sends over a Kirby themed phone to report any suspicious activity, as a Kirby phone would keep anyone from rousing suspicion.

DestroyaAttacks

A second wave of Destroyas attacks Dream Land

Outside, Meta Knight activates a remote and the big fountain in Dedede's courtyard opens up and reveals a staircase to a cave. All of Cappy Town goes in (with Waddle Doo watching), and find themselves in an elevator. Meanwhile, Waddle Doo informs King Dedede and Escargoon about Meta Knight's actions, the latter two going down to investigate. In the cave, Meta Knight pulls a lever and some spotlights goes on, revealing his counterattack: the Battleship Halberd. Dedede also sees it, takes some screenshots with his phone, and confronts Meta Knight, who invites them to join the crew. Meta Knight takes everyone to the bridge, where Nightmare's fortress and the surrounding Destroya are captured on camera. Meanwhile, Customer Service sends six new Destroyers to attack Dedede's castle and Cappy Town. The people in the Halberd gets scared. King Dedede and Escargon storm out of the Halberd to have a front row seat of the action, oblivious to the fact that they're also Nightmare's targets. Shortly thereafter, Meta Knight asks the Cappies to recruit, but they all run out, scared. King Dedede and Escargoon return to the throne room, where a direct hit obliterates the monster transmitter. He gets out his cellphone and complains about his transmitter, where Customer Service makes a deal; destroy the Halberd, and Dedede will not only get a new transmitter, but a demon beast, all for free (half price in the Japanese version).

KitCosmosRecruits

Kit Cosmos recruits the Cappies to join their fight

Inside the Halberd, Meta Knight sends out Kirby and a revived Warp Star to distract the Destroyas long enough to launch the Halberd. Outside, the Cappies are watching the battle when Kit Cosmos appears on the scene and declares it their duty to fight alongside Kirby and Meta Knight. Down in the Halberd's hangar, some scaffoldings fall down, and Dedede and Escargon go in with time bombs. Meta Knight remembers that Cappies are peaceful creatures; fighting is not in their nature. Tiff, Tuff, Fololo and Falala declare that they'll help. As Meta Knight is preparing for takeoff, the Cappies, led by Kit Cosmos, goes down to join him. Kit Cosmos and Meta Knight are reunited. Shortly thereafter, the Halberd's engines goes on. King Dedede and Escargon quickly runs inside with their time bombs.

Destrayer

Halberd destroys a Destroya in a single blast

When the Halberd has risen into the air, everyone around it watches it, including Dyna Blade, Kabu, the wildlife, some Cappies, who have volunteered to stay behind and rebuild Cappy Town. The Halberd quickly starts aiming for the Destroyas to save Kirby, Cappy Town, and the entire Planet Popstar. After shooting down the first one, Kirby boards the Halberd, where Kit Cosmos salutes him. Tiff picks up the Warp Star, promising to take care of it. Outside, the remaining Destroyers are firing at the Halberd, but the Halberd quickly shoots them down one by one. The Halberd then flies up and away from Popstar. When it's in space, Meta Knight turns on turbo mode, which boosts the Halberd's speed, and it flies away.

Changes in the Dub[]

  • The Destroya scene at the beginning of the episodes was removed, and replaced by a flashback. Evidence of this is provided in the Italian dub, as the only recording of the episode is from the movie version. In the movie version, it was completely removed, immediately skipping to the Cappies watching their town burn down.
  • Tokkori's warning that the Cappies blame Kirby is not present in the Japanese version.
  • The Mayor no longer laments how half his sheep were killed in the Destorya attack.
  • The phone's ringtone in the Japanese version is a variation of the second anime opening, "Kirby!", while the English dub replaces it with a variation of the copy ability theme composed by 4kids.
    • As a result, Dedede and Escargoon breaking the fourth wall ("I've heard this song from somewhere, before...") is replaced by them reacting to Kirby's presence on the phone.
  • Customer Service's promise of a free transmitter and monster package was originally an offer for a demon beast at half the price.

Trivia[]

  • The title is a spoof of the movie Black Hawk Down.
  • There are scenes in the English dub where Customer's Service's lip syncing has been edited. These scenes are when he talks about their big project, and when Dedede complains about his transmitter.
  • This is the only episode in which the name "Popstar" is used in the anime, albeit only in the Japanese version.
  • This is the last episode where King Dedede and Escargoon are seen rendered in 3D CG.

Errors[]

  • Dedede and Escargoon complain to the N.M.E. Sales Guy, stating that the "fly boys" should've beat Kirby, but they all took a nosedive. It is unknown if he is referring to the Air Riders from the previous segment, "Air-Ride-in-Style" or the Destroyas; if it is the former, it creates a continuity error, as the part with the Air Riders was a dream that Kirby and Tiff had, meaning that it did not really happen.
  • When Meta Knight asks for a crew, Chef Kawasaki mentions he is a chef, not a soldier. When he is seen, he is heard speaking normally, but he is shown with his hands in his mouth.
  • Fololo and Falala could be seen on the Halberd after it took off, but don't make any appearance for the rest of the episode. And in the Fright to the Finish episode, they reappear in the throne room when Mr. Curio tried to repair the Monster Transmitter.
