Here comes Twin Woods again! With the bond stronger than ever, the giant arbor twins drop apples and Capillers. They've mastered the Stomp Jump too! Don't underestimate them!
— Twin Woods • Kirby Fighters 2

Capillers, sometimes called bugs, worms, or caterpillars[1] due to their appearance, are rare enemies in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Super Star. They are one of the few things that Kirby is consistently shown to be unwilling to eat.

Physical Appearance

Capillers look like brown worms or striped caterpillars with a couple of large eyes. The ones dropped by Whispy's Revenge are Jumbo Capillers, about twice the size of normal Capillers, and are purple instead. Some sprites portray Capillers as fuzzy.

Games

Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra

Snack Tracks

Snack Tracks's level select.

Capillers first appear in the Revenge of Meta Knight sub-game. When the Twin Woods start spinning, they drop Capillers from their branches. They are used as an attack in every subsequent Twin Woods battle. They cannot be inhaled.

In the Revenge of the King sub-game, Jumbo Capillers are used in the fight against Whispy's Revenge.

Capillers also appear in the Snack Tracks sub-game. They appear on the conveyor belt along with food, bombs, and rocks. They can appear by themselves or stuck on a Maxim Tomato, making them a rather annoying obstacle. These Capillers must be tapped once to be destroyed.

A Capiller also appears in the Special-Edition Blooper Reel video; in the cutscene from Dyna Blade, instead of an apple falling on Kirby's head, a Capiller falls on his face, prompting him to be briefly annoyed before returning to his nap.

Kirby: Planet Robobot, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and Super Kirby Clash

Capillers appear again in Kirby: Planet Robobot’s Team Kirby Clash sub-game, as well as the downloadable Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash. They once again appear as one of Whispy Woods' attacks. Capiller is one of the three regular enemies in the entirety of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash.

Kirby Star Allies

Capillers appear in Kirby Star Allies in the sub-game Chop Champs as an obstacle, along with Gordos.

Trivia

  • Capillers in 3D games appear to have more "facial" expressions than in Kirby Super Star and its remake.
