Caper is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby: Squeak Squad. It only appears during fights with the mini-boss Tedhaun. It yields no Copy Ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Caper is a small grayish ghost. It is capsule-shaped and lacks appendages of any kind. The foe has a malicious smirk and a single glaring eye with a tiny pupil. Unlike its artwork, Caper's sprite has a large pupil with a purple iris.

Games[]

Kirby: Squeak Squad[]

Caper is a minion of the mid-boss Tedhaun. Three Capers surround it and serve as a sort of shield, taking the hits from projectiles Kirby fires. When Tedhaun gestures, his minions dart around the room, attempting to home in on the pink puff. If Tedhaun grabs the hero, a Caper appears from the side of the screen and crashes into Kirby. The player has no way to avoid this attack.

Tedhaun cannot create projectile stars like other mid-bosses, so if Kirby has no ability, he must spit Capers at the mid-boss. Capers explode like bombs when attacked and have no health bars.

Since Caper is only seen around Tedhaun, it cannot be encountered unless the player has assembled the Ghost Medal, the pieces of which must be found in various Treasure Chests throughout Dream Land. Once the Ghost Medal is completed, Tedhaun will replace a different mid-boss in the following stages: Stage 3 of Prism Plains, Stage 2 of Cushy Clouds, Stage 4 of Jam Jungle, Stage 4 of Ice Island, and Stage 1 of Gamble Galaxy.

Etymology[]

Its name, キャパー (Kyapā), may be a reference to the cartoon character, Casper the Friendly Ghost.
