Buufuu is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Mass Attack.

Physical Appearance[]

Buufuu is a brown pig-like creature that wears a skull with small horns for a helmet. It treats its ears as wings and has a large snout with large nostrils. It lacks appendages but has a curly tail and has glowing yellow eyes seen in its helmet's eyeholes. Underneath its snout, it has a visible mouth.

Games[]

Kirby Mass Attack[]

Buufuu appears exclusively in Stages 4 and 8 of Volcano Valley. It is stationary hovering in place and, after briefly charging, exhales strongly from its snout. The wind produced pushes the Kirbys away, either to make them fall in a hole, push them into an obstacle/enemy, or to keep them from progressing further. Because it does not directly damage them, Buufuu is more of a nuisance than a threat. Regardless, the attack is more dangerous in Stage 8; any Kirbys that are pushed off the Skull Tower are snatched by Skullys and lost permanently.

Etymology[]

Its name, ブーフー (Buufuu), comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound pigs make, ブー (buu); and the Japanese onomatopoeia for exhaling, フー (fū) referencing its ability of exhaling strong winds.

Trivia[]

  • The Skullord, boss of Volcano Valley, somewhat resembles a giant Buufuu. As such, Buufuus may be part of the same species as Skullord.
