“ | Flame birds, Burnises appear in the volcanoes of Neo Star and drop hot rocks on Kirby and his friends. Jump and inhale the Burnises as soon as you see them; otherwise, you'll risk dodging their rocks on uneven footing.” |

Burnis is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It gives the Burning ability when inhaled.
Physical Appearance[]
Burnis is a yellow, flaming bird with a round body, black beady eyes, and a small cyan beak.
Games[]
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]
Burnis attacks by dropping heated rocks at Kirby or diving into him; some move at a high speed and drop rocks at a fast rate. If Burnis bumps into a wall, it will plummet to the ground and be defeated. An icy version of Burnis, Frigis, also appears.
Big Burnis in Stage 4 of Shiver Star as a Room Guarder; in addition to summoning Magoos, two at a time, from the lava below, Big Burnis flies back and forth, periodically dropping rocks. Big Burnis does not encounter any walls, and thus does not perform a kamikaze attack. It takes six hits to defeat and drops the stage's second Crystal Shard, which is encased in a cage that has yellow and green bars that requires Spark Cutter to destroy.
Etymology[]
Burnis's name comes from the word "burn," referencing its fiery properties and the Copy Ability it gives; it also has the suffix "-is," which is also used by its similarly-named counterpart, Frigis.
Trivia[]
- Embird, an enemy debuting in Kirby's Epic Yarn, closely resembles Burnis.
