Burner Guardians are a hazard in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

Physical Appearance[]

Burner Guardian is a giant cobra statue made out of gold. It has reptilian eyes with red pupils. The statue's hood is adorned with horizontal stripes and its belly wears a four-pointed star pattern.

Games[]

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[]

Burner Guardian only appears in Stages 4 and 7 of Wild World and Stage 7 of Royal Road. It is never situated on a tangible plane--this makes it impossible for Kirby to attack it.

Burner Guardian aims carefully at Kirby and spits a fireball at him every few seconds. It will keep its gaze fixed on the hero no matter where he runs or flies in the general area; Burner Guardian can turn a full 360 degrees, allowing it to attack Kirby even when he switches planes with a 3D Warp Star. If the pink puff escapes the statue's range, Burner Guardian will stop attacking.

Trivia[]

  • Burner Guardian can only be found inside ruin stages, similarly to Coily Rattler. They may have been constructed by the People of the Sky, as Coily Rattler's Pause Screen description implies that they had a fascination with snakes.
  • The design of Burner Guardian is likely inspired by ancient Egyptian depictions of cobras, such as the serpent decoration on Tutankhamun's mask. Their appearance inside ancient ruins lends further credence to this, although the outer design of the temple they inhabit is more Mesoamerican in style.
