Bohboh is a boss from Kirby: Squeak Squad.

Physical Appearance

Bohboh is a fiery, owl-like creature with a raccoon-like tail that lives in Vocal Volcano and could be considered to be like an enhanced version of Batafire. While they share some attacks, like flying and dropping fireballs, Bohboh is much more reckless.

Attacks

During the battle, he will charge at Kirby any chance he gets. If he hits the pool of magma in the middle when he dives, though, he will take damage. This can be used to defeat him, similar to Mrs. Moley. Once he crashes, rocks and enemies (Pengi, Hot Head, and Sir Kibble) will fall down from the sky as he slowly flies back up, he won't crash if he goes offscreen, he'll return onscreen after a short amount of time. Bohboh can also fly left and right while dropping fireballs that can be used as ammunition against him and swoop down in an attempt to grab Kirby, if successful, Kirby will be thrown into the pool of magma. Defeating him will signify that Kirby has finished Vocal Volcano, and can move on to Ice Island.

The arena Bohboh is fought in also serves a large problem factor throughout the battle. It consists of a rocky platform (that Bohboh would occasionally try to arc down across in an attempt to hit Kirby) suspended above a large pool of magma. Flanking either side of the magma pool are two very small sections of solid ground. If Bohboh manages to get his clutches on Kirby during his charge attack, he will grasp him with his talons and throw him into the pool. As soon as Kirby hits the scalding magma, he has an eighty percent chance of immediately losing his ability. This magma is also so hot that even the Ice ability can't permanently freeze it and will only stay frozen for a couple of seconds (although doing so may add some temporary relief during the battle).

Etymology

Bohboh's name appears to be a corruption of the word Bubo, which is a genus of owl, and bo, the Japanese sound for blown fire.

Trivia

  • Bohboh bears a resemblance to Coo.
  • It is possible that Batafire is Bohboh's Mirror World counterpart, as they both attack alike and are based on real-life creatures that fly. Both use the element of fire in battle as well.
