Bloon is an enemy in Kirby: Canvas Curse. It floats around peacefully in a confined space. When defeated, Kirby can get the Balloon ability from it; Bloon is the only enemy that can do so. They are seen rather infrequently and are only found high in the sky. Bloons first appear in Plant Plain, and later on in Canvas Canyon and Spectacle Space. Many Bloons appear in the Balloon B and Missile A Special Courses.

One later makes a cameo appearance in Kirby Super Star Ultra as one of the spectators in King Dedede's arena cheering for Kirby. It is the only enemy unique to Kirby: Canvas Curse to appear as a spectator. In addition, this scene was copied and reused in Kirby Mass Attack for the Kirby Quest sub-game; while the Kirbys battle King Dedede in Chapter 1 or HR-D3 in Chapter 2, the player can barely make out Bloon in the background.

Bloon also appears as a collectible sticker in Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Physical Appearance

Bloon is a rounded, orange balloon-like enemy with a somewhat pointy top. It has four round feet-like appendages (two yellow and two orange), chubby air-filled cheeks, and a greenish-blue bottom. It also has small, dark brown eyes and rosy cheeks.

Etymology

Bloon's name is a corruption of the word "balloon."

Its Japanese name, Pukura, comes from the Japanese word/onomatopoeia for chubby/puffed up/swelling, プクプク/ぷくぷく (pukupuku)
