Jump from the platform and fly as far as you can!
— In-game description • Kirby Air Ride

Air Glider is a Stadium event in the City Trial mode of Kirby Air Ride. There is only one such arena - no further versions can be unlocked.

Objective[]

The objective in Air Glider is to fly as far as possible after flying off a ramp before the machine has to hit the ground. The distance flown is measured in feet. How long the machine actually takes to achieve this is not limited.

The player gets one go at achieving the distance, unlike High Jump, which allows two.

Strategy[]

Primary statistics[]

  • KAR Patch Glide Glide
  • Down Weight Weight (negative)
  • KAR Patch TopSpeed Top Speed

Secondary statistics[]

  • KAR Patch Boost Boost
  • KAR Patch Charge Charge

The final say on the winner depends highly on the final weight and gliding ability of the machine. Top speed helps, but not as much as those two factors. Boost and Charge also help, but only by a miniscule amount (i.e. takeoff speed).

The player always starts off on a downward slope, which leads to a ramp with boost pads. Hitting all of them is ideal. After that, it's a matter of finding the balance between maintaining altitude and speed by angling the machine. The sweet spot is when the speed stabilises.

The maximum distance machines can possibly go is just under 4,500 feet, as the arena comes to an end there. This distance can be achieved by the Dragoon under ideal conditions and a very large number of Glide and Negative Weight patches. Alternatively, it can be reached by performing the Bulk Star Glitch, which consists of very, very rapidly spamming the A button non-stop right after take-off or using a turbo controller.
